Boomers Help Young Students Achieve Academic Success

Alice Corkill has no intention of retiring – she is much too busy. At 73, she tutors 10 children, four days each week. Alice is a member of Tempe Experience Corps, a branch of the national award-winning program that tutors and mentors children who need extra help with reading.

  • Partnership for Personalized Medicine Signs Major Agreement with Grand Duchy of Luxembourg

    Arizona’s evolution to become a center for biosciences leapfrogged in June 2008. The government of Luxembourg announced a $200 million agreement with the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), the Partnership for Personalized Medicine and the Institute for Systems Biology, Seattle, to increase the pace of the Grand Duchy’s innovation in molecular biology, systems biology and personalized medicine.

    Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust has awarded grants to benefit children in Maricopa County that will improve early childhood education, music and science educational enhancement, leadership programming for at-risk girls, pet therapy for children and child abuse prevention.
