Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust Achieves $400 Million Milestone in Grantmaking

- Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust, a private foundation that honors the legacy of Virginia Galvin Piper, has achieved a grantmaking milestone by investing more than $400 million in nonprofits and programs since its inception. Piper Trust began awarding grants in 2000 and awards approximately $22 million annually to Maricopa County nonprofits. A grant to The Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix to strengthen Catholic education marks this defining moment in Piper Trust’s history. Read More

Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust Appoints Mary Jane Rynd as New CEO

- The board of trustees of Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust has named Mary Jane Rynd, a 17-year Trust veteran, as president and CEO. Rynd is replacing Dr. Susan Pepin, who is leaving after four years to join Arizona State University (ASU) as managing director of its new Office of Health and Clinical Partnerships. Rynd has been serving as executive vice president and assumes her new duties at the helm of the Trust starting June 2, 2018. Read More

Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust Announces Awardees of 2016 Encore Prizes for Exceptional Organizations

- Three nonprofits that tap the talent of adults age 50 and older in meaningful work that benefits society have received 2016 Piper Trust Encore Prizes for Exceptional Organizations. Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust awarded prizes to: Sun Sounds of Arizona, Circle the City, and The Be Kind People Project. Circle the City and The Be Kind People Project each received a $5,000 prize for demonstrating significant encore engagement.
