Piper Trust Names New Program Officer
PHOENIX, ARIZ (October 10, 2011) Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust announced today the appointment of Theresa (Terri) Leon as program officer. Leon formerly served as chief operating officer of Friendly House, Inc. in Phoenix.
“Terri has a deep understanding of our community and the needs of nonprofits,” said Judy Jolley Mohraz, President and CEO. “She is recognized for her integrity and strong leadership skills, and we are delighted that she will represent the Trust in our partnerships throughout the Valley.”

Leon was selected in 2007 as a Piper Fellow and has served on the board and as chair of People of Color Network. Currently she serves on the Catholic Social Service Board and the City of Glendale Personnel Board. She holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in social work from Arizona State University.
Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust is committed to honoring Virginia Piper’s legacy of supporting nonprofits whose work makes Maricopa County, AZ stronger, healthier and more livable. Since it began awarding grants in 2000, the Trust has invested nearly $275,000,000 in local nonprofits and programs. The Trust focuses its grant making on healthcare and medical research, children, older adults, arts and culture, education and religious organizations.
