WHY: By 2020, almost one in four Arizonans will be in the age group of baby boomers, thus, it is critical to understand this population’s great potential for positive impact on the region’s communities (U.S. Census Bureau, 2005). Nationwide, millions of boomers want to apply their experience to make a difference for others—often called the encore movement—and most are looking to combine aspects of work, paid and unpaid, with elements of service through encore careers.
